A Crypto wallet is the ideal place to keep your asset. Mobile wallets are great for carrying crypto around and being able to transact with others, however this is not the best for keeping all of your investments safe. One method used by HODLers is a desktop wallet. This guide will help you create a secure desktop environment that you can backup and move from computer to computer, while keeping your digital assets safe.
Virtual Machine
A VM is a virtual computer that runs on top of your physical computer. This should be dedicated to managing your crypto wallets, and can keep everything contained in a clean and safe environment free from malicious software. This guide will walk you through the steps of building a virtual machine.
- Install Virtualbox
- Visit https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
- Choose your Operating system from VirtualBox 6.1.18 platform packages
- Install Virtualbox
- Download VirtualBox Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack
- Download Linux Mint
- Visit http://mirrors.kernel.org/linuxmint/stable/20.1/linuxmint-20.1-cinnamon-64bit.iso
- Download the Cinnamon edition of Linux Mint
- Create Virtual Machine
- Open Virtualbox
- Select Machine - New
- Name: Mint
- Type: Linux
- Version Ubuntu 64-bit
- Next
- Memory Size: 4096
- Next
- Hard disk file type: VDI
- Storage: Dynamically Allocated
- File Location and size - 64gb should be fine
